In our opinion, wine is God’s gift to humanity! So naturally, when a wine festival comes our way we are champing at the bit! These are a few of our favorite festivals to be a part of!
The Savannah Food and Wine Festival is put on by the Tourism and Leadership Council. Typically held the second week in November, the festival highlights some of Savannah’s best venues! It begins with The Grand Reserve Tasting event, showcasing many of the world’s finest wines on Thursday, November 10th at The Westin. Friday night, November 11th, you can “sip, savor and shop” at the River Street Stroll. Saturday, November 12th, you can head to the Taste of Savannah event, showcasing a few of Savannah’s best restaurants at the Georgia State Railroad Museum. And you can finish off the weekend with the Jazz and Bubbles Brunch at the Westin! All of the proceeds go to the Tourism and Leadership Council’s Scholarship Fund. The Hilton Head Food and Wine Festival is held in March at Hilton Head’s Sea Pines Resort. Over three decades ago, the tourism council began the festival in hopes to get more tourists our to the island in the spring. 31 years later the festival is still going strong, now extending to a week of tastings and seminars! It starts with the Wine and Cinema event on Monday night. Enjoy a movie night at Custom Audio Video with a variety of fine wines and heavy hor d’oeuvres. A series of Knowledge Sessions are held through the week at The Plantation Golf Club. The sessions range from food and wine pairings to the various grapes used for various wines and everything in between! Thursday afternoon, grab a glass and stroll through the beautiful Harbour Town Yacht Basin, visiting the various shops the city has to offer. Friday, head to the Harbour Town Clubhouse for the Grand Wine Tasting, exploring various award winning wines. End your week on Saturday in the Public Tasting with a day full of Bartender’s Challenges, Gourmet Challenges, Waiters Races, and a Silent Auction! All of the proceeds from the wine auction and tastings go to the John and Valerie Curry Educational Scholarship.

The Tybee Post Theatre hosts the Tybee Island Wine Festival in April on beautiful Tybee Island. The 5 day celebration kicks off with the Celebration of Earth and Vine event at the Tybee Island Wedding Chapel. Five chefs are chosen from Savannah to create and pair an earthly dish with a fine wine. On Thursday night, The Tybee Island Social Club hosts The Art of Pairing where guests are guided through a fine dinner with the perfect wine pairing for each course. Friday night, Marlin Monroe’s hosts An Evening of Oysters and Wine. Guests are served oysters cooked 6 different ways and the perfectly paired wines. The Grand Wine Tasting kicks of Saturday afternoon at The Tybee Island Lighthouse. The tasting features over 100 wines and various hors d’oeuvres from a handful of local restaurants. End your weekend with the Champagne Brunch at The Crabshack on the north end of the island. All of the proceeds go to The Tybee Post Theatre, a performing arts and cultural center on the island. And finally, The Westin at Jekyll Island hosts Whiskey Wine and Wildlife benefiting the Jekyll Island Foundation. Various top chefs, distillers and researchers come together for a weekend of good food and wine. Friday, enjoy two master classes featuring a live auction, a blind and silent auction and a “Whiskey Pull”.
